Out With The Old and In With The New

Wow, can you believe it, today is the final day to place orders from the 2015-2016 annual catalog and the Occasions catalogs! Tomorrow morning the new and oh so fantastic new 2016-2017 annual catalog goes live! Trust me when I tell you, I can barely contain my excitement! This catalog goes way beyond fantastic! However, if there is anything on the retirement list that you really want, today's your last chance. Lots has sold out, but there is still a lot of great things left so feel free to check it out before it's gone forever in less than 24 hours!
Ok, now for today's card. I can finally share it with you. I had to keep it under wraps until after I gave it to my dad for his birthday and I didn't want him to stop by here and see it before he received it, so now it's in his hot hands and now I can share it with all of you. This comes from my oh so favorite new set, Swirly Bird stamp set! I can not believe how versatile this stamp set is and of course I adore the coordinating Thinlits as well....waves are compliments of the Thinlits!

The sentiment comes from the stamp set Thoughtful Banners. I totally love this set as well because you create sooo many sentiments, its almost endless the combination of words you can put together to create just the right sentiment. The colors I used are Mint Macaron, Night of Navy and for the "sun" Delightful Dijon, the boat is Tip Top Taupe and the flag is Real Red. I hope you enjoy this card, I think dad did. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. I hope you all have a great day and happy stamping.

Color Blocking

Good morning! Today I want to share with you a really simple technique that creates some really cool backgrounds for your cards, it's called Color Blocking or Ink Blocking! It's where you take your acrylic blocks and ink the directly, spritz with water and apply the dampened ink directly to your cardstock! You can get so many variations of color and designs from this technique depending on the size and shape of the acrylic block, the amount of water used and of course the many ink colors to choose from.
Here is my example:

I used the new In-colors, Peek-a-boo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo and the stamp sets used are GreateSt Greetings and Wild about Flowers. So, the next time you pick up your acrylic blocks, give this technique a try. You will be amazed at the wonderful designs you will come up with!
Happy Stamping,

The Retiring List Has Posted

Well, it's that time of year again, the retirement list has been released and it's huge! Lots of wonderful items, and much of it marked down up to 50% off! If you have had your eye on anything now is the time to get it because once it's gone, it's gone forever! Yes, as sad as it sounds, it's the way it works. Once an item sells out, it's gone forever (insert sad face) For one, if you love the 2 way glue pen, stock up because that made the list! So did Crystal Effects....I'll be stocking up that's for sure!

All things 2014-2016 In Colors are also going away by May 31st, and those will be the first things to sell out so don't wait on those items if you need to get anything. In colors are always the first things to sell out. I absolutely LOVE Blackberry Bliss and will be stocking up on all thing BB that's for sure.

Now, I don't want you to be too sad over the retirement of all these great items, because I will tell you, I got a sneak peak of the new catalog coming out and OMG! Can we say UH MAY ZING! I can NOT wait to be able to begin the pre-order and share sneak peaks with you! AWESOME stuff. So awesome, you will forget all about the wonderful stuff going away. And we all know, in order to make room for new and wonderful stuff, we have to let go of some old wonderful stuff. It's all good.

Well I've gone on long enough, you need to click the link above and see for your self and leave me a comment below and tell me which retiring item you will miss the most?

Happy Stamping,

A Very Special Birthday Card

Happy Easter! What are your Easter plans? I'm making dinner for hubby and I since this is his first Easter off in 11 years. As a nurse, I have always worked Easter, then once I entered the world of management and was able to have weekends and holidays off, hubby entered the world of Corrections, working weekends and holidays. Oh well, it just makes us appreciate the ones we do get to spend together.
Anyhoo, today, I want to share a very special birthday card created by a friend of mine, Nancy Woeltje, for her mom; and she agreed to allow me to share it with all of you. She used the Number of Years stamp set from the Spring Occasions catalog.

I love how she incorporated the photos into the card. Talk about a personal touch! I can only imagine the sheer joy her mom felt when she received this beautiful card showcasing special moments throughout her life. And what a great way to showcase this awesome stamp set!
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look. Please feel free to leave a comment below and let Nancy know how terrific this special card really is. In the meantime I want to wish you all a very blessed Easter and I will see you back here on Tuesday!
Happy Stamping,

The Best Advise I ever Got about Stamping

Can you smell it? Spring is in the air! I do love this time of year! Yesterday we hit 70 degrees here in Central  NY! I was actually able to open my windows and doors for a bit to let the outdoors indoors. I love how the house smells after a warm Spring breeze comes through. Now I am anxious for gardening season to begin!

Ok, today, I wanted to talk to you about the BEST advise I have ever gotten about stamping. I was told, ‘there are no mistakes in stamping!” At first, when my friend told me this, my face must have spoke volumes because she immediately recognized what I was thinking, because my first thoughts were, “oh yeah, you should see all my “mistakes”. And she said, “think about this, first of all, a little blemish can easily be concealed with an embellishment, and we should always add flair to our work anyway and second, even if you can’t conceal it with an embellishment, there is ALWAYS two sides to your paper!” After I had thought about this for a fashion, I realized she was 100% right on the money!

So many times, a little smudge here or there, just provides an opportunity to add a little extra sumthin’ Sumthin’ to the overall design of the project. So really, our mistakes aren’t mistakes at all, but opportunities.

So, the next time you make a “mistake”, don’t think of it as such, retrain your thinking and look at it as an opportunity and ask yourself, how can I further embellish my project and make it that much more spectacular? I will bet more times than not, you will come up with something that is even better than you had originally planned it to be. So, my advise to you…”there are NO mistakes in stamping!” Embellish away!

Happy Stamping,
Katrina

Going Global

Hello,

I hope this finds everyone doing well and staying warm…the temperatures are beginning to drop to more normal (freezing) temps for around here. It sure makes me grateful to have a warm fire that’s for sure.  Today, I wanted to show you a card made by my mom, which she submitted into the sketch challenge taking place over on my FB page, www.facebook.com/snsfromtheheart using the Going Global stamp set.

I think she did a fantastic job using this stamp set and meeting the challenge quite well. I love the colors she chose, Lost Lagoon along with the coordinating ribbon and ink. What do you think? You can find all of these great products over on my online store, just click the “Shop Now” above to find your way there. You can also click on either of the catalogs over to the right.

I also wanted to remind you all that now is probably one of THE best times to join Stampin’ Up!. During Sale-a-bration, you get to choose $155 in product, (anything you want) for just $99! Normally, you pick $125 for $99, so that is an extra $30 in product added to your starter kit! Who can pass that up, not to mention, as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, you get a 20% discount on ALL future orders, and once you reach a certain dollar amount in sales and purchases, that savings goes up to 25%! And the best part? The best part is you get an early pre-view of ALL new product coming out! Yes, you get to see and order before ANYONE else! I don’t know about you, but I LOVE getting to see and try new stuff and being the first makes it even sweeter. You also have the opportunity to earn free stuff, attend On Stage events, both local and global. There really is NO downside to joining the Stampin’ Up! family. In addition to all this, you get a quarterly magazine designed exclusively for demonstrators to help you with your business as well as access to an exclusive demonstrator website and forum.
