When it Snows Make a Medallion!

Hi there! Well we survived the big Winter Storm Stella with our grand total coming in around 18", which isn't too bad considering some of our neighbors ended up with around 30". I'm assuming that was God's way of evening us all out since I still had about 2 feet of snow in my yard left from all of winter where as most of our neighbors had lost all of their snow. As much as a nuisance as it was, it did make for good crafting weather, and I decided to play with the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Make a Medallion. This is such a cute set! I really enjoyed playing with it and look forward to playing with it some more, with other color combinations. But for this one, I used Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach to create the medallion and I played with some watercoloring as well which was fun.
I began with a standard card base using Early Espresso and added a piece of the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP cut 2" x 4" to the bottom of the card base. I then cut a piece of watercolor paper (I started with an over-sized piece and cut it down once I finished watercoloring to a finished size of 3 1/4" x 4") To create the watercolor, I began by saturating the paper with water, then working lightest to darkest, I began dropping the color in and blending out. The colors used are Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral. I sped up the drying process by using my heat tool and added a second layer of color and again sped up the drying process. Because of warping, I applied a heavy layer of Snail adhesive and adhered the panel to the card base. I stamped the medallion using the Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach and the sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso. I cut the medallion out using the Layering Circles Framelits (I used the framelit measuring approximately 2 1/2" in diameter) and adhered it to the watercolor piece using Dimensionals. I then cut strips from Peekaboo Peach (3/4" x 3 3/4"); Calypso Coral (3/4" x 3 1/4"); and Daffodil Delight (1/2" x 2 1/2") and stamped "friend" with Early Espresso onto the Daffodil Delight strip and adhered them all down with Snail adhesive. Finally, I picked out 5 of the Peekaboo Peach sequins from the Sprinkles Embellishments and adhered them to the front of the card using Liquid Multipurpose Glue.
And that completes our card for today. I hope you enjoyed this one. Do you have the Make a Medallion stamp set? If so, what color combinations have you tried? If not, there is still time to get one, all you need to do to get your own is spend $50 before shipping and tax and you can select the Make a Medallion set as your FREE sale-a-bration set! Remember, Sale-a-bration ends 3/31 and all Sale-a-bration items are "while supplies last" right now. Currently, the card Tins are gone but everything else is available, but be sure, it won't be for long.
Have a great day and happy stamping,
Katrina
